Iran: "The first Democratic Digital Revolution?

The political situation in Iran has to concern us all. Not the clear humanitarian and human rights involved. The news reaching us are worrying. At this time at 17:20 pm on June 16, 2009, we have confirmation of troop movements in order to suppress the surge to claim democratic guarantees in the country, even though citizens were to protest the "rigging elections "have changed their place of expression, to avoid clashes with supporters of Ahmadinejad .

The issue is clear, the increasing power of the theocratic and nepotistic tandem-Khamenei Ahmadinejad, is in the course of local history in Iran. Do not forget that Ali Khamenei did his best against the legitimate government of Khatami when it took power in Iran in the mid 90s. At that time the West and especially the U.S. and the EU had a golden opportunity to help Iran to initiate its own democratic path that would fit with the values of their society. The openness Khamenei, had to fight against the "opposition" from within and distrust of the outside (marked with the arrival in the White House of G. Bush Jr. and his hawks) in a war that led to the front.

On this point: at that time to be President of ECOSY I had the opportunity on several occasions to talk with Iran's Ambassador in Spain and some of his advisers and I can assure that their attitude was to open new avenues of collaboration with the West. Furthermore I always said it foresaw that this attitude might bring them the possibility of becoming a regional power mean (with the acquiescence of the UN and the international community), once resolve their problems with Israel. But the reality today and swung towards the worrying situation.

However, after the fall of Saddam (and therefore Iraq, their main enemy, which used to crush the Sunni minority to the Shiite majority, and that in Iran, overwhelmingly Shiite came at a price), the pending troubles the once powerful enemy across the border disappeared, so it leaves only another that concerns them and motivates them: Israel, and that for a theocracy is a candy that can not be missed.

But the reality is that Iran's population is stubborn. On the one hand has one of the younger populations of planet Earth, which if not known guide and give proper personal and professional output can be a "sleeper" that eventually can be dangerous, if we fail to channel their needs. In addition to the mandate of Khatami, the women saw a relaxation in the implementation of sharia. They were also provided opportunity for emancipation certain heights unknown in the neighboring countries. On this clear in what is happening: how women will tolerate that after a period in which they were "social visibility" return the worst of times?.

These two factors certainly help both young men and women take to the streets to support a change. Exhausted Ahmadinejad's regime for corruption, international confrontation, blocking social reforms and the feeling that the country does not advance But if the faithful of the Islamic revolution, everything is a breeding ground that is leading to this situation.

The question is, Iranian society is ready for a change of this size. The Daily Telegraph yesterday announced it had evidence that Ahmadinejad had been third, hence the widespread public perception that the result was a rigging, and bearing in mind that the presumptive winner Mousavi, only has the band of "being something openness ". I guess people are seeing the opportunity to do something to bring about change, tired of the current political situation.

One thing is clear: this is the first digital revolution in which peaceful citizen media such as Facebook and Twitter are playing an enormous task. Today I'm receiving and issuing tweets from around the world (including of people who are in Iran) to report online about what is happening in Tehran. Even government attacks against Iranian users of social networks, do not amedentran, quite the opposite. And is that for the first time, who launched distress messages not only know that these come, if not at the other side is a huge network of informed and concerned citizens to expand the voice of those who are cut off the other in the today. So this is a true act of hyperpolitics, policy and check for Citizens (C2C) without having to intervene governments or media.

Today we have the opportunity to change the communication model of the world and give voice to those who really creates the news.

Will all this for something. I hope so.

Antisocial Networking??

Post Today El Pais an article about anti-social networks that emerge in recent years in the W3. It's funny but already completed the journey in Andalusia Day entrepreneurs, and having analyzed the phenomenon 2.0 has penetrated our lives, I find it very difficult to understand what mechanisms lead to a number of users to perform a joint action (counter- call it) that invites just the opposite of what Web 2.0 What does it mean.

And it is precisely the ability to interact with other users on the network, requiring active listening and reasoning in the ideas that have to be made clearly and giving them the strength to make our voice be heard among the vast network of networks that is the Internet, makes the concept Social Network strength between users and users. Especially in the blogger community.

First of all, remember that the network concept pursued by the international community seeks to something as simple as communication to staff the "leitmotiv" of the network itself. That is, we try to build a community in which we build by providing critically, listening, respecting, tolerating. For the other, there is always the real world Amply and obstinate, which already has exhausted the method of communicating the old fashioned way.

That said, if one is not optimistic and reducing the network (I am aware of it), certainly would not hold a real and thoughtful analysis of sociologists, psychologists, anthropologists, a vast reatahíla de-logos, which I certainly would leave the dust.

What I try / we the activists of the network, you have the possibility of building an information and communication to leave behind the worst thing in this respect mankind has made in its technological leap from the previous 5,000 years, it has not accompanied in parallel with changes in their cerebral medulla (relative to it, are interesting writings of Carl Sagan and Eduard Punset about it, so friendly and accessible). We continue to be advanced primates, but in essence primates (Well let it in Primates 2.0).

Therefore I find it incredible that a media outlet like The Country, nurtures a community of 7,000 individuals who claim to be a "social network", a "counter-movement" on the web. I'm sorry nor one nor the other, are simply a grouping that does not seek anything but an interaction that goes against the principles of Web 2.0. This is the "community" I fucking hate you .

I invite you to reflect on it and open a discussion as I await your contributions.

It is curious nervousness in some media groups produce the new situation arises for them with the advent of new digital media such relational.

If it was hard for them to see how P2P networks, they made a very important gap between the users of cultural products, and especially form the musical and visual, now see a threat in social networks, which manage, exchange and, most important, originating content in a way that makes them difficult to control.

In this sense, the way we interact with this phenomenon, which is actually an aggregate of several of them: the personal blog and your blogroll, facebook, Twitter and other 2.0 applications, is a form of total mistrust and, worse, permanent enmity, which results in a pilgrimage that many internet users to new channels for obtaining information.

The static form (not the aesthetics, if not for its interconnectivity with the user) that are generated and issued the information contents of the so-called mainstream media, especially newspapers of major national and regional heads, crossing to the network already been published in paper and subsequent updates throughout the day until the next printed edition make the experience informative in a digital ecosystem becomes completely exasperating constrained, since there are no possibilities to explore alternative views alternative channels to generate information, make it interesting not only for navigation on their site, if not returning to work.

This is undoubtedly the great challenge of marketing communications for the incumbents of written communication. They must learn that the surfer who visits your site, simply open a new window (one click) to open a new navigation channel, and therefore, new perspectives. This would require that digital content written communication companies to be more permeable to the search for alternative information and that interactivity is not achieved by appealing to computer graphics, audios and videos, together with a generated tag cloud to your own website and not to "travel" abroad.

This is the experience alternative posed by new media and relationship involving the Web 2.0 , and that is it so attractive to Internet users.

It's incredible that they have not learned the lesson that the recording industry accounted for P2P, that although from time to time receive a brief good news for its interest, statistics, studies and even more stubborn "the reality of everyday "demonstrate that the roads that began just over five years, and will be irreversible.

Both the media and to the recording industry challenges he encountered so far have failed to respond. The latter have not been able to adapt their business model to the current situation and in the case of the former have a very useful teaching should be able to take advantage. But given the circumstances, I see very difficult for productive sectors with well-established business models, are able to adapt quickly to current market conditions and digital users.

Although in the case of Rush , after the setback of last weekend's intention (to their interests) article on P2P, yesterday published an interesting article which softened the views held the weekend before ( I recommend in that sense Enrique Dans article on his blog ), where proactivity is indicated by P2P users to purchase digital files with rights to a greater extent than those not using this technology. (You can see news on this link: " The downloads are not as bad for the music industry ).

In closing, I write this post with the idea of giving my opinion on a subject that undoubtedly will evolve over time and will cause new market niches and business models, not to mention the possibilities of communication to be born at the mercy of the new content and digital technologies.

I hope your comments ...
