Black Holes "Trojans"

In recent years, is a question of particular interest to study the origin of-ray bursts "gamma" ( GRB ) in the universe. The largest outbreak on an ongoing basis have begun to be associated with black holes with a very special feature: they are holes that absorb these stars from within. They are what the scientific community began to call "holes of Troy."

The University of Leeds (Great Britain) in a statement on 18 October this year, published a note on this subject, as a result of the initial estimates of the study group led by Professor Sergei Komissarov in an article called " Close Binary progenitors of Long Gamma Ray Bursts "(not yet published).

In this theory stating that such black holes are produced during the "invasion" of a star by a black hole. This theory try to explain the great length of plasma jets ejected caused by GRBs, being possible if the matter falling into the black hole rotates very fast speed. This, in turn, be explained because the black hole would have swallowed the star from inside (awesome). On the other hand, it would be possible to explain the fast rotation, if a remnant of the dying star formation that causes the black hole.

According to Professor Komissarov (Professor of Computational Relativistic Astrophysics), his theory is based on recent observations by the satellite Swift , indicating that the central jet engine operates with the capacity to take 10,000 seconds - far more than the model of neutrinos can explain. Mathematicians believe that this is evidence of an electromagnetic origin of the jets of plasma, ie the jets come directly from a rotating black hole and magnetic stress is caused by the rotation which focuses and accelerates the flow of same.

The universe does not cease to surprise and no one knows where the limits of relativistic cosmology, and that is the most impressive and exciting.

If you are interested in this topic I recommend reading the book "The Black Hole War" by Leonard Susskind published by Planeta (in your library Drakontos - Review).

To repair the Hubble!

The new mission of Atlantis, the STS 125 , is prepared in the pad 39A in Cape Kennedy , for launch today, bound for a thorough repair of the mills of the man who has given more satisfaction to the astronomical community world.

19 years ago that was put into orbit, and I still remember when I was an active member of the Astronomical Society Granada discussions and debates about what the findings mean that the first telescope in orbit would report to the human race to make us aware of what we are insignificant to the cosmos and what we still need to learn about ourselves by looking at the stars.

The truth is that expectations about its functioning have exceeded their creators and after several earlier missions maintenance, this will be crucial for several reasons. Optimization will work in depth. To understand that all is as if they were to put a "glasses" special so you can see better. After so many years in space the lens has defects that are necessary to correct and update various electronic equipment that allow you to target the objectives and study in different wavelengths. Also necessary, replace various life support systems, particularly as to energy and batteries are concerned that given the opportunity to extend its operational life until 2015.

This is the essential nature of this mission, on the other hand were significant more than likely the last mission of a space orbiter type Shuttle , before NASA finally leave this special program, which saw its beginnings in 80, the benefit of the program Orion , which will use non-reusable orbital devices (like the Apollo 60 and 70).

Let's hope the launch will occur smoothly, since each launch of a shuttle from the misfortune of Columbia , is an exercise in risk. In part because these units have exceeded their operational life expectancy and partly because of budget cuts of the Bush-Cheney have meant that certain business processes are not of the quality and excellence that should fit a space program of its kind.

The Atalantis is scheduled for launch at 20:01 hours in Spain, with a favorable weather forecast 80% in Florida and a similar one in Moron de la Frontera, which is the designated track in this mission to an emergency landing. Along with the shuttle Endeavour is placed in the Pad 39B , the crew prepared for if I had to do a rescue mission of the crew of Atlantis in case of emergency or disaster in the orbit.

NASA has planned several "windows" to take off next Wednesday, which should not occur on the same mission would be aborted.

But I hope the full success of the mission, and I hope to report on my blog of how events are developing.

Here you have a striking picture of the state of the ship 15 hours after taking off light. I will keep you informed.

Closer to see the Big Bang

Lasted 10 seconds, which is certainly going to give that talk in the community of astronomers around the world who are dedicated to the study of deep space, and of course, theoretical physicists who are responsible for disclosing the crossroads of facts and figures spitting their simulations on supercomputers.

It is a gamma ray burst that occurred in the constellation Leo on 23 April, localized by the Swift satellite . Such an event has several important perspectives: the first is the space made further and old at the time of which we have data to date. The explosion is the result in the form of gamma rays, an event that "happened" in our line of horizontal events, 12 800 million years ago, as these are light years away to the event is located.

But furthermore, what I call success is not whether more than likely not the formation of a black hole as a result of stellar collapse in the early career of what we call the universe. In particular to some 600 million of that birth. Recall that the birth of our Sun is dated some 4500 million years.

Specialists of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) , whose telescopes have been very active in hunting and investigation of the outbreak and its light later explain that the first stars would be formed when the cosmos was between 200 and 400 million years, which gives an idea of the early universe which accounts for GRB 090 423 (Scientific name assigned to the event).

That is we are seeing a reflection of the past of our apparent reality of a universe postprehistórico. The first stars were formed between 200 and 400 million years. Words, this star should be very special.

The gamma-ray bursts are the brightest explosions in the known universe and is thought to occur when a massive star exhausts its nuclear fuel and collapses, forming a superdense remnant, which may be a neutron star or black hole, and superenergéticos emitting jets of gas.

We're one step closer to understanding the mechanisms of the early universe and its composition. I am convinced that the detailed study of this phenomenon give rise to a rich debate in the scientific community.

I wanted to start this category in my blog, with this news though currently passing through the meeting in Granada today have several astronomer s specialized in locating and tracking of asteroids orbiting dangerously fragile area around our water.

On this and the results speak in another post.
