Science in Spain does not need scissors ...

Honestly, every time I understand roughly the shape of politics in our country. While in Moncloa are unaware of the virulence of our "crisis of its own," whipped up into a general framework of global economic distress, where everything will change for anything to change. (Perhaps someone knows of a judicial process in the OECD against one of the architects of the global crisis - not worth Madoff, the scapegoat of the moment -) in opposition, not only have an anti-crisis model, but are mired in a long fratricidal war with a band dressed postponed corruption unbearable.

Contra el recorte a la I+D+i española

Against cuts to R & D & I Spanish

I think once more not only deceive us, I mean the international financial authorities, but also no one will use this crisis to change the model. And when I say model, I do not mean capitalism (fully perpetuated in the genome of this society), I refer to the structures that sustain it, rather, the question would be to create structures, not to support it, but to control. With that at this stage of the "film" I'm content.

But the struggle seems to me far, I do not think that the IMF or the OECD, the powerful lobbyists and think tanks that support the system will recognize your utter failure in the monitoring and observation of it. I will not add anything more about it, I have ideas, but I doubt that will be heard or considered. There will be satisfied with Obama, the EU (well Merkel and Sarkozy, to be precise, are the only ones who have a voice in the current nonsense that has become my longed European Union. What exists today does not recognize) and an emerging leader like Lula, occasionally giving a holder (rather than a proposal or course of action).

But really what worries me is my beloved Spain. Would any of the heroes of our country are concerned about Spain? Is it logical that the Government continue disagreeing with the official figures for ALL international agencies? and do not take a clear and transparent about it (And please do not come with the drivel that is a problem of not knowing how to sell the benefits of the measures taken. Citizens are not fools.) I will give a free solution: Of course I support the stimulus plan-E, but having lost the race short term, is not worth making a long-term policy commitment? Can envision that our President as well following vote of the electoral process is at stake is the historical development of our country:

The solution is a firm commitment to education and of course R & D

These should be the two hallmarks of Spain's future. And it's easy to understand. Our production model: brick + Beach & Sun is dead. The first for obvious reasons and the second will remain important but not decisive, it is clearly not the old locomotive. In tourism we focus on quality rather than quantity, especially when we bear in mind that increasingly compete for markets with lower prices and outstanding quality (relative to the offered price) with respect to ours.

And this is the harsh reality. The harsh and stubborn reality. I only hope is a bit of Politics (with capitals) and vision (which has long been lost in national politics - it takes statesmen and not "partisan").

Snip I do not understand the R & D Spanish, however you want to justify ridiculous ways (if they are not I+D+i hiring new investigators and projects remain at anchor, that's a cut and nothing else), ah, and it scares me to contemplate defense budgets (those of which everyone is happy when there is a cut, but can mean just a cut in R + D + i of the truth, as I do not know, I come here, but I promise to investigate this).

Therefore at this stage of the game, which saw the markets continue to play by their rules and "playing" with governments, the only chance for countries like ours is to change the model strategy to become a productive and specialists I + D + i applied to the industries of biotechnology, value-added services and tourism. That's our game, and that's what I expect from my elected representatives. Unfortunately Moncloa not realize (and this pains me a lot) and the opposition enough to read the litany of atrocities they generate in their environment and the distress they cause in an attempt to destabilize the government and the feeling that the "end of times is near."

Will we ever have a proactive Parliament to the real needs of citizens, or rewarding the political will of the parties? I fear that the cut R & D is a victim of this type of short-term policy visions.

  3. Dear Juanjo, unfortunately share the same analysis as you, but certainly not going to remove the right to speak and protest, so we believe a sick decision wrong. We will continue making noise to get the R + D + i shine above the rest.

    Good afternoon,

I think so, and (though not understand economics too) I think the solution of "a firm commitment to education and of course R & D." I would add also the production of symbolic goods, including cultural services connected with the territory, as well tenemso development of ICTs that allow more access to culture, economic citizenship without causing economic loss. In this context, the creativity and innovation are the key proposals for the transformation. It would be interesting not stay in the terms, further, create métdodos and quantify results ...

What makes the fever .. algidol my turn already.

    A greeting!

  5. Dear Gloria, totally agree with what you express in your comment, especially in relation to cultural services connected to the land, that was one of my challenges when I tried to push an agenda XXI local culture to a few municipalities of Granada in my journey by the Diputación de Granada in the Area of Culture, but I think that both the language, such as innovation was intended, not to mention the intangibility of some of the actions and objectives over an intimidated. That said, we need to push between them, to R & D and education are the two engines of the future of our productive system. At least in Andalusia, has increased the chapter on innovation and education, can be a start (that I believe). Thank you very much for following my blog.
    A big hug!
